Amino Alcohol Oxidation with Gold Catalysts: The Effect of Amino Groups
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gold catalysts have been prepared by sol immobilization using Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride (THPC) as a protective and reducing agent or by deposition on different supports (Al₂O₃, TiO₂, MgAl₂O₄, and MgO). The catalytic systems have been tested in the liquid phase oxidation of aminoalcohols (serinol and ethanolamine) and the corresponding polyols (glycerol and ethylene glycol). This comparison allowed us to state that the presence of amino groups has a crucial effect on the catalytic performance, in particular decreasing the durability to the catalysts, but did not substantially vary the selectivity. A support effect has been as well established.

متن کاملControl of selectivity in allylic alcohol oxidation on gold surfaces: the role of oxygen adatoms and hydroxyl species.
Gold catalysts display high activity and good selectivity for partial oxidation of a number of alcohol species. In this work, we discuss the effects of oxygen adatoms and surface hydroxyls on the selectivity for oxidation of allylic alcohols (allyl alcohol and crotyl alcohol) on gold surfaces. Utilizing temperature programmed desorption (TPD), reactive molecular beam scattering (RMBS), and dens...

متن کاملStatistical Optimization of Liquid Phase Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol over Efficient Cobalt Promoted Vanadyl Pyrophosphate Catalysts by Box-Behnken Design
Vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPO) has been applied as a heterogeneous catalyst in gas phase oxidation reactions and its application is very limited in liquid phase. In this study a series of cobalt-doped vanadium phosphorus oxides (VPO-Co) catalysts with different loading of Co (0.01-1.0 mol ratio of Co/V) were prepared. Oxidation of benzyl alcohol was studied in the liquid phase over VPO and VP...

Commercial carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) modified in various ways at the surface have been used as supports for gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in order to study their influence on the activity/selectivity of catalysts in the aqueous oxidation of alcohol. Particularly oxidative treatment was used to introduce carboxylic functionalities, whereas subsequent treatment with NH3 at...
